THE LONGERON

Creating the fuselage longeron turned out to be most challenging task I encountered so far.

My first attempts of opening the angle of the longeron with the hammer indicated that I will most certainly ruin it this way.  An attempt to open the angle by squeezing the longeron with vise has failed too.

I needed a press. Quick search gave me a $150 contraption from Supercheap Auto. I figured that ordering a new longeron would cost me more. So I bought the press.

I can’t say the press made the process easy. It become easier.

Bending the extrusion to certain shape was not an easy task either.

Anyway after 5 hours of hard labour the longerons (both left and right) were ready
